POOL C of E SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY
The school governing body are responsible for the plans, policies and procedures within the school. The governors are part of the management team of the school in conjunction with the head teacher and senior staff.
The governors are all volunteers and have a responsibility to conduct the school to promote high standards of educational achievement. They have several main responsibilities:
Setting strategic direction, objectives and targets for the school
Reviewing progress against the budget, plans and targets
Approving the school budget
Acting as a critical friend to the head teacher by providing support and challenge
Appointing the head teacher
Pool CE School Governing body is made up of representatives from the church as we are a voluntary controlled school by the Church of England, as well as representatives from the education authority, the staff, the parents, and the community. The church (foundation) governors are nominated by the local diocesan education authority. Parent and staff governors are elected from the relevant bodies arranged by the head teacher. Community governers are nominated by the governing body as a whole and the LEA nominate the education authority governors.
The full governing body meet twice a term with other meetings of the finance, buildings and other committees as required.
All of the governors for Pool CE school are local people, most with current or recent links with the school. The head teacher is always a member of the governing body.
