A broad and balanced curriculum

Art
We give the children lots of opportunities to express themselves creatively through a wide range of media. An artist in residence helped the children produce the beautiful acrylic pictures in the school hall. Y6 are studying the Aborigine people. They have produced some wonderful Aboriginal art using pastels. Here is a sample. The school prides itself on its displays of children's work and the school is always an attractive and welcoming place for pupils and visitors.
Physical Education
We aim to provide a wide variety of sporting activities for all our children regardless of ability. School staff are supported by qualified coaches in many sports and we are an active member of the St Mary's School Sports Partnership. Sports offered include football, rugby, hockey, netball, cricket, athletics, swimming, archery, sailing, and much more! Here our children are competing in an indoor Athletics Festival - we were beaten into second place by only one point -but we still had a great time.
Music
Music in school is well supported by our trained music specialists and outside peripetic teachers. Lots of our children learn to play a major instrument in KS2. We also have music workshop sessions where the children learn to play instruments from a range of cultures. Here the children are playing Indonesien bamboo Angklungs. Eighty KS2 pupils learned to play these instruments led by Marcelle Black of Music Support Service. They performed for parents and the rest of the school at the end of the day.
